It was astounding. I became this unrecognizable 160 pound person and I didn’t even really realize what it had done to my appearance. This went way beyond wearing baggy clothes and dark colors to try and hid my shame. I looked like a slob who abused her body with fatty and sugary food and didn’t care about the consequences. But I did care. That evening I had decided that I had reached my threshold. I was going to lose the weight no matter how long it took. So I did what anyone would do when they decide they would lose a lot of weight: I joined a health club. I used their weight machines, strolled on the cardio machines, sweated, grunted, and just generally put in a lot of time and effort. And what happened next? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. After all that effort, I hardly lost any weight. I was still fat, miserable, and frustrated. But I wasn’t about to give up. I knew that there was something I wasn’t getting that all the people around me who were able to lose weigh left and right understood. There was some key element that was just outside of my grasp, so I decided I would dedicate myself to learning everything published on health and fitness. So night after night after I got home from work, I read and studied and researched into the wee hours of the morning. The reason I was able to stay up so late because it seemed like everything I read was a massive wake up call. A huge alarm telling me “EVERYTHING YOU HAVE EVER BEEN TOLD ABOUT GETTING IN SHAPE IS A LIE.” I was astonished by the discrepancy between the truth and what is published in fitness magazines, the source form which most people learn about losing weight. But there is a simple reason for this. All of these magazines are owned by the supplement industry. So when you read some “Special Report” that steers you toward buying product X or an articles titled “Seven Surefire Fitness Tips” that tells you should always take supplement Y, that is actually an advertisement disguised as fact. These articles aren’t written by real fitness professionals who the true ins and outs of losing weight. They are written by advertising people who probably haven’t done a day’s worth of real exercise in their life. I took everything I learned, cut away all the bull, and lo and behold, I dropped the fat like a ton of bricks and built muscle all over my body.
Now instead of chronic pain, I’m enjoying explosive energy and a vigor for life that I haven’t felt in over a decade. Happy ending, right? Well, not quite. I though so too, until I discovered that there lots of people in Toronto who were seeking a Toronto Personal Trainer with exactly the kind of knowledge that I had used to lose my weight. People who wanted to know started asking me how to do it. So I gave some basic tips culled from everything I learned. Weeks later, these people would come back to me, ecstatic because those small tips help them lose a lot more weight than they thought they could in months. That gave me an idea: if this small advice could help people, I sure more comp So I become certified as a Toronto Personal Trainer and Fitness Bootcamp Instructor and started The Fitness Girl, Private In-Home and Condo Personal Training Workouts.
